Our Sponsors
We have been very lucky over time to have been offered some very cool sponsorships and endorsements. Below is a list of people we would like to thank for everything they have done for our group.
IRON FIST
Iron Fist are a cutting edge and edgy brand of clothing who have been sponsoring all our clobber since 1998. Claire, Chris in JHB and Dave in Durbs are awesome and have always given the band first dibs on the latest and raddest of their imported stock.
With a tough and durable material, their clothes are built to last. Prnts don't fade and the material doesn't stretch or sag. I probably wear my woolie I.F cap once a week, since I got it back in '08!
If you're hip to this jive, check out the Iron Fist store at The Zone in Rosebank in JHB , get a tattoo done and tell Jono and Blake that we sent ya...

TC ELECTRONICS & PROSOUND
Terry and the dudes from Prosound have been incredible! Not only have we done some great shows on Prosound stages. but we have also been lucky enough to roadtest some of the TC Electronic's equipment.
I put my vocals through a TC Helicon Harmony G vocal processing unit. I love it, cos it's got a great range of effects and functions. Not only have you got a root option of 5 different vocal effect settings - including delay, reverbs, slaps and combos - but you can also do some neat little tricks with harmonies! Now here's where it get's interesting ... Our music, especially on our new album, has been become quite textural and what the Helicon allows me to do, is plug a guitar into the unit, and from this trigger harmonies around the chords being played on the guitar! It's brilliant! SO if for instance you're playing a D chord, you'll have an adjustable level of 6 harmonies ranging from a simple double to a 'Beach Boys' halo of voices in interesting 5th and 6th's ....
Powered off a normal 9vt adaptor, I just plug it straight into my guitar pedal's daisy chain and voila all set to go, and in close foot-tapping proximity.
We also ALWAYS use a TC Polytune. By far the most accurate tuner I have come across, the Poly is a dream tuner with adjustable note settings too. Plug it straight in with your guitar pedals and a simple stomp on the switch bypasses you instantly to tuner mode.
The 12str Rickenbacker I play is always a pain in the ass to tune, especially in those frantic 'between songs' moments on stage where you don't have time to waste. With this tuner you can strum all the strings in one go and the Poly points out exactly which strings are out! Saves you going through all of them to find that one elusive bugger..
Both these units have become crucial to the overall sound and performance of The One Night Stands and they go with us wherever we go! They are available from Music Connection, Craighall Park Johannesburg.

ITALIA GUITARS
Ooh, now when it comes to guitars I can talk for days and days .... But as long as it's all about classic vintage models!
Call me elitist or a traditionalist - or a pain in the ass - but if it doesn't say Gibson, Fender, Rickenbacker, Gretsch or Fender, and if it wasn't made before 1976, then I'm not interested...
Well, until now...
My good old friend Frank from the Music Company in JHB approached me and asked me if I had ever tried an Italia guitar. With a cocked, weary expression, I shot him a look of distrust. He convinced me to come round to the showroom and so I did. Well, gee John, the first thing I saw was this 60's styled hollow bodied bass, the same one that Chas Chandler used to play in the Animals! Then I spotted a geet that looked just like a Rickenbacker, and another looked like a 335 and all of a sudden I Saw all these great shaped axes that I've always loved all around me..
Cut a long story short, Frank handed me over a Torrino, virtually the same size and shape as the Epiphone Sheraton I always use and boy, I like it. It's now become my downtuned guitar (in D#) and it has a great weighty, solid feel.
But any discernng guitarist should check out their stuff. The styles really do vary across the spectrum!.

VOLCOM
I'm lucky enough to get some clothes from Volcom too. These guys make the best jeans, period! I have lived in my 2 pairs of blues and blacks for probably every day since I got 'em.
True, the blues have now got a busted zip! I have to keep checking myself to make sure it hasn't slipped down ... especially when I take Stella Rose to the park!
